News

Last week I felt so incredibly bad.  Friday, I decided to take a pregnancy test.  I was pretty sure it would be negative since I have so many problems in the reproductive department.  So, I took the test and what a wonderful surprise:

We are adding a new member to our family!

I took three tests and all were positive!  We are all so excited about this wonderful and surprising news!

Diva Monkey

My Monkey is all girl.  She likes dresses, having her nails painted, getting pedicures (at home of course), playing princess, and all that other girly stuff.  The other night while she was taking a bath she stuck her foot up out of the water and said “Mama, I need a pedicure.”

The Dreaded Doctor: The Aftermath

So, I went to the dreaded doctor yesterday.  When I arrived I had to fill out a paper listing all my concerns and health history.  I was called to the back for the humiliating weight check and then the nurse took my vital signs.  She proceeded to tell me how to put on the paper shirt and how to use the sheet.  Really, this is not my first time at this kind of appointment.  I sat there in the stupid, pointless paper shirt covered with the sheet waiting for the doctor.  When he came in I thought he was twelve, seriously I almost asked for his credentials.  He introduced himself and then asked if I had any concerns, the nurse showed him my paper.  This is where the fun starts.  I have endometriosis, I’ve had surgery for it, I had a very hard time getting pregnant with our daughter because of it, I had a difficult pregnancy, and I still have problems because of it.  He asked me about my last ultrasound, which was a while ago, and the other problems I had listed.  Then, he suggested that I see gynecology for a consult to discuss the problems I am experiencing now and the fact that I am having trouble, again, getting pregnant.  Then he says “So, your having lower back pain and hip pain.  Do you think this is associated with your endometriosis?”  I wanted to say “Aren’t you the doctor?”  But, I did not.  I simply explained to Dougie Howser that when I was diagnosed I had the same symptoms, so yes, I assume it is related.  Then he did “the exam”.  When he was done we discussed my need for an ultrasound and a consult with gynecology a little more.  I got dressed and left.  I got home and picked up Monkey from the neighbors.  We discussed going to get our haircut and running a few errands later on in the day.  I wasn’t feeling all that great after my appointment, and while at the store waiting for my neighbor to get her hair done, I started aching severely.  We came home and I put on my much loved sweat pants and laid on the bed.  I couldn’t get comfortable, my hips, my lower back, and my pelvis were throbbing.  I talked to hubby, told him what the doctor had said, and that I was feeling crappy.  I put Monkey to bed with a movie at 7:30 because I felt so bad.  I took a hot bath hoping it would relax my muscles and make the aches go away, it helped a little.  Today I am feeling a bit better, still aching some, but at least I can walk without being in intense pain.  I called to make my appointment with gynecology and it is set up for the end of the month.  I still have to set up my ultrasound.  At least I have the ball rolling, again, and hopefully will get some answers soon.

The Dreaded Doctor

OK, I will just put this out there, I hate, repeat hate going to the doctor.  I will suffer through anything until I absolutely can’t take it anymore rather than just going to the doctor and taking care of it before it gets out of hand.  This trait drives my family, my friends, and my hubby insane.

Tomorrow is the much dreaded yearly female exam which I know everybody hates, but I absolutely loathe this appointment.  I will put it off until I can no longer procrastinate and even then I fight and try to find a reason to reschedule.  I thought I had a good reason to reschedule this time, hubby was supposed to be here to watch Monkey, but since he’s gone….Nope, not so lucky, my neighbor decided that she’d be happy to watch her for me.  Oh goody!

So, tonight, I am preparing myself for the most hated day of the year in my calendar!

Dance Recital

Monkey dancing to Happy FeetMonkey had her first dance recital tonight, she takes ballet and tap.  I was a little worried that she would get up on the stage and just stand there, i tried to convince myself that even if she did that it would be alright, she’s only three, and it would be just as cute.  When we got to the theater and she saw the stage she was excited saying, “I want to go up there and dance.” I told her she had to wait until her teacher told her group it was time.  When the moment arrived my Monkey walked onto the stage and danced her little heart out, she was a little behind every now and then, but she is only three and has only been taking classes since January.  The fact that she knew the dance at all sort of amazed me.  When she came off the stage to change into her tap outfit all the moms kept telling her what a good job she did, she was beaming!  She walked onto the stage again and when the music started her little feet started moving and it was so adorable!  Her teacher gave all the girls a single rose and Monkey was so proud of hers, we had to bring it home, put it in water, and place it in her room.  I am so proud of her!  When we started home she said “I danced on the big stage and now I want chicken from Burger King.”  Of course, she got it! Dance Recital

A Wedding Card

My cousin is getting married tomorrow and I made this card for her and her fiance.  I’m kind of new to the card making scene, but I love it!  I wish that Monkey and I could be at her wedding, but they live so far away and Monkey has her first dance recital tomorrow night.

BNCOC

In December my hubby returned from a 15 month deployment in Iraq.  My daughter and I were so excited and we have enjoyed him being home with us.  Today he left for Fort Hood to attend BNCOC, a class he needs to get promoted and all that goes with it.  Monkey and I were so sad.  We hate it when he goes away.  Yes, I realize it’s only about four weeks and I’m thankful that he’s only going to a school, but still, it’s hard to say goodbye.  I guess it’s just one of the by products of being an Army wife.  I know it’s necessary, but I don’t have to like it.

Midnight Conversation

At midnight last night I had this conversation with Monkey:

Monkey: “Mommy, I need to see you.”

Me: “What do you need?”

Monkey: “The thingy”

Me: “What thingy?”

Monkey: “The thingy is in the car”

Me: “I’m sorry, I’m not going out to the car to get the thingy at midnight.  Go back to sleep.”

Monkey (crying): “But I need the thingy, please go to the car”

Me: “I’m sorry, we will get the thingy in the morning”

Monkey cries and then “Daddy, daddy I need you”

Daddy: “Go back to sleep Monkey”

Monkey: “Daddy”

Daddy gets up and goes to Monkey’s room

Monkey: “Daddy, get the thingy”

Daddy: “No Monkey, the thingy is in the car and we will get it in the morning, it will be fine in the car.  Good night”

Monkey: “Mommy, the thingy, please?”

Me: “Go to sleep Monkey”

A few tears and drink of water later Monkey has drifted off to dream.

By the way, the thingy is, of all things, a nail file.  My Monkey feels most secure when all of her possessions are nearby.

iPod

Monkey has everything she needs to play putt-putt in the desert, her bucket hat and IPod.  Really, who needs a golf club or a ball when you’re this adorable!

Wiggles Live!

We took Sister Pearl to see The Wiggles Live last night.  We arrived at the venue about an hour before time for the show to start, which turned out to be perfect.  We got inside and found our seats.  When I ordered the tickets I looked at the seating chart and was a little worried about where we were sitting, but we actually had almost perfect seats!  We decided it would be a good idea to go get a souvenir before the show started.  I took her to the stand and she picked out the t-shirt that she wanted, we bought it, and she put it on immediately.  She was so excited and kept asking “Where are the Wiggles?” When the show finally started she had a huge smile on her face.  She was singing, dancing, waving, clapping, and yelling at the cast the whole time!  She takes ballet and some of the Wiggly Dancers were dressed like ballerinas.  She was smiling and saying “Look at those ballerinas, they do ballet.”  She has every intention of telling her ballet teacher about them!  One of the cool things about the Wiggles shows is that the Wiggles actually come into the crowd.  Monkey has always liked Murray, and was so happy that he was the one that came into our section.  She ran toward the stairs and I had to move quickly to catch her before she ran off.  When the show was over she cried and said “I don’t want to go, I want to see them, I want to stay here with the Wiggles.”  She had such a good time last night and hubby and I enjoyed watching her have so much fun.  I know she liked the show we saw when she was younger, but I think she will have some amazing memories from yesterday.
