The Best Pajama Party Ever…

Monkey has been asking to have a sleepover for a while, and while I certainly didn’t want to deny her this awesome girly activity, I had reservations about having a bunch of little girls spending the night.  So, my hubby’s cousin suggested having the girls come in pajamas, do activities, and then go home and go to sleep!  Awesome idea!  So, I ran the idea past Monkey who quickly responded with “Well, why can’t they just sleep here?”  I explained to her that they were still pretty young and someone might really miss their mom in the middle of the night and it was just better to do it this way right now.  She agreed.  I made invitations and she passed them out to her friends.

Tonight was the big night!  I decorated the table with a bed sheet and three teddy bears.  We ordered pizza and had other snacks available.  All of her friends came!

After they ate they decorated pillow cases with fabric markers that I had written “Pajama Night 2009″ on.  Then they made foam crowns.  I was kind of nervous about that one, because one of her friends is a boy and she didn’t want to exclude him.  But, there was a piece of blue foam and so he made a crown too!  They played a couple of games, watched a movie while snacking, and then made a collage just for fun!  They asked me to read a couple of books and then they just played!

When it was time to go home they took their pillowcases, crowns, collages, and a goody bag.  Pink bags for the girls and a blue bag for the one little boy!  I filled the bags with a toothbrush, travel size toothpaste, travel size shampoo, soap, a loofah sponge, and a sheet of star stickers.  I printed out papers that read “Pajama Night 2009″ and glued them to the bags.

Everyone seemed to have a really good time.  They ate a lot, worked hard on their crafts, played hard, and were worn out when they left!  My daughter looked at me and said “Mama,  that was the best pajama party ever!”  Now, she has nothing to compare tonight to, but I took it as a huge compliment and say that tonight was a success!  She already can’t wait to do it again!
