Seven Months

I'm Seven Months Old Today!

Seven Months

* She’s trying to crawl, but only goes backwards and gets stuck under the furniture

* Is trying to pull up to standing

* Has learned that super fun “let’s drop it off the high chair so mama can pick it up and then I can drop it again” game

* Tries to feed herself with a spoon…bath time is a must after that!

* Claps her hands, babbles, and smiles all the time

* Gets into a sitting position from her belly

* Hates the hair bows I put on her head

She is growing up so fast!  Won’t be long before she’s walking and talking and oh my goodness where does the time go???

The Best Pajama Party Ever…

Monkey has been asking to have a sleepover for a while, and while I certainly didn’t want to deny her this awesome girly activity, I had reservations about having a bunch of little girls spending the night.  So, my hubby’s cousin suggested having the girls come in pajamas, do activities, and then go home and go to sleep!  Awesome idea!  So, I ran the idea past Monkey who quickly responded with “Well, why can’t they just sleep here?”  I explained to her that they were still pretty young and someone might really miss their mom in the middle of the night and it was just better to do it this way right now.  She agreed.  I made invitations and she passed them out to her friends.

Tonight was the big night!  I decorated the table with a bed sheet and three teddy bears.  We ordered pizza and had other snacks available.  All of her friends came!

After they ate they decorated pillow cases with fabric markers that I had written “Pajama Night 2009” on.  Then they made foam crowns.  I was kind of nervous about that one, because one of her friends is a boy and she didn’t want to exclude him.  But, there was a piece of blue foam and so he made a crown too!  They played a couple of games, watched a movie while snacking, and then made a collage just for fun!  They asked me to read a couple of books and then they just played!

When it was time to go home they took their pillowcases, crowns, collages, and a goody bag.  Pink bags for the girls and a blue bag for the one little boy!  I filled the bags with a toothbrush, travel size toothpaste, travel size shampoo, soap, a loofah sponge, and a sheet of star stickers.  I printed out papers that read “Pajama Night 2009” and glued them to the bags.

Everyone seemed to have a really good time.  They ate a lot, worked hard on their crafts, played hard, and were worn out when they left!  My daughter looked at me and said “Mama,  that was the best pajama party ever!”  Now, she has nothing to compare tonight to, but I took it as a huge compliment and say that tonight was a success!  She already can’t wait to do it again!

My Trip to the Dentist

I went to the dentist today for my second round of debreeding or as I like to call it “Inflicting of Pain for a Large Fee”.  At least this time they numbed my mouth before they started scraping and digging and whatever else they were doing in there.  It sounded painful!  Now, before bed, I have to brush (which I did before), floss (I’ve never been good at flossing, but I try), and swish mouthwash around in there.  Now, I have to use some crazy looking instrument with a rubber tip to stimulate my gums.  I will admit that since the first round of this debreeding, my gums don’t bleed as often as they did before.  The hygienist was pleased with this as am I.  My jaws are extremely sore tonight, it hurts to yawn!  My next appointment is in August for more of the same.  I hope that in the end all of this pain and money will be worth it!
